Allan Innman makes hyper-realistic oil paintings, drawing his inspiration from children’s toys and childhood memories. In his early work, he faithfully reproduces his subject matter, albeit with a slightly exaggerated color palette. In his more recent paintings, he activates his toy subjects by situating them within an environment and incorporates pictorial elements, which often allude to comic books or sic-fi, so as to reproduce the interior landscape of a child’s imagination.
Originally from Oxford, Innman graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2006 with a BFA in Studio Art. He recently completed his MFA at the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art in Athens. He has exhibited widely and has artwork in collections in Italy, New York, California, and throughout the Southeastern U.S.
